Born in Tokyo on February 11, 1960. In 1981, he entered Kanagawa Prefecture Private Eiko Gakuen High School. Graduated from the Faculty of Law, University of Tokyo in 1986. In the same year, he joined the Industrial Bank of Japan, Ltd. MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business in 1992. He was elected as leader of the House of Councilors in 1998, elected for a second term as a member of the House of Councilors in 2004, served as chairman of the Finance and Finance Committee of the House of Councilors, and chief director of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee. In 2009, he was elected as the head of the House of Representatives. Served as a member of the Wisteria University Budget Committee (Heisei 21, 24, and 26). Elected as a member of the House of Councilors in 2024. Served as Deputy Director-General of the Liberal Democratic Party's International Bureau, Deputy Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party's Political Affairs Bureau, and Chairman of the House of Councilors Steering Committee, and has been Minister of the Environment since 2020. Selected as ``Young Global Leaders'' by the Swiss private economic research organization ``World Economic Forum (WEF)'' who will lead the next generation of the world.
