Career

Born in Osaka on October 14, 1965. After attending Osaka Prefectural Ibaraki High School, Kyoto University, and graduate school there, he joined the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. During his time at the same ministry, he studied abroad at Columbia University Graduate School of International Public Policy in the United States and obtained a master's degree. He worked for the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry for more than 20 years, and turned to politics after the Great East Japan Earthquake and the TEPCO Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Accident. He first challenged the general election in December 2012, which led to the inauguration of the second Abe Naiyo, and won the election. He served four terms as a member of the House of Representatives for 12 years, and served as chairman of the Political Affairs Research Group of Japan Innovation Council and chairman of the Constitutional Revision Research Committee. After reporting the election violations by the Japan Innovation Association in the October 2020 Yuin by-election, he was sent an assassin and announced his retirement to avoid confusion in the local area. He ran for the House of Councilors election in July 2020 as a proportional district candidate for the Democratic Party of the People, and won the top position within the party as an individual not within the organization. During his high school days, he played water polo in the inter-high school and national polity tournaments.
