Born on July 22, 1950 in Kofu City, Yamanashi Prefecture
〇Yamanashi Prefectural Kofu Daiichi High School, Tohoku University Faculty of Economics
〇 Joined the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in 1981. Responsible for Japan-US agricultural negotiations in the International Department
〇Second to JICA and JETRO New York Center, responsible for international cooperation in the agricultural field, import/export of agricultural products, and information dissemination.
〇After returning to Japan, worked as assistant director of the Food Agency's import division, handling GATT Uruguay Round negotiations and handling emergency rice imports.
〇In 2000, elected as the head of the House of Parliament for four terms thereafter.
〇 Served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and Deputy Minister of the Democratic Party of Japan. Working on policies such as recovery from the Great East Japan Earthquake, education, agriculture, and regional revitalization.
〇Inaugurated as Governor of Yamanashi Prefecture in 2015. Focus on enriching the environment for raising children, promoting tourism and agriculture, and introducing renewable energy
〇In the 2020 regular election for the House of Councilors, elected from Yamanashi prefecture's selected ward
