Career
Born July 11, 1967. Graduated from Nagasaki University School of Medicine, obtained medical license in 1992, and Ph.D. in medicine in 1996. Worked at Nagasaki University, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in the U.S., and the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, became branch chief of the Tokyo Airport Quarantine Station in 2009, and retired from the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare in the same year. Elected as leader of the House of Councilors in 2010. Appointed for third term (Select Ward, Fukuoka Prefecture). Achieved insurance coverage for Helicobacter pylori eradication to prevent stomach cancer. In 2012, he became a political official of the Minister of the Environment and a political official of the Cabinet Minister, and in 2013 he became a member of the Special Committee on Disaster Countermeasures at the National Institute of Japan.
