Career

Born on October 5, 1964 in Hayaki, Abira-cho, Yufutsu-gun, Hokkaido. In 1958, he joined Tomakomai High School attached to Komazawa University, and in the same year joined Fuji Kyuko Co., Ltd., and participated in seven Olympic Games from 1959 to 1996. In the same year, he won a bronze medal at the Albertville Games. He left Fujikyuko Co., Ltd. in 2010, and in 2011 he was elected as the Deputy Leader of the House of Councilors, in 2012 he became Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Hokkaido Development, and in 2013 he became the Chairman of the Committee on Culture, Education, and Science of the Councillors. In 2015, served as Deputy Director of the Liberal Democratic Party, Chairman of the Hokkaido Branch Federation of the Liberal Democratic Party, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs in 2015, Chairman of the Party Participation Policy Council in 2014, Chairman of the Participation Party Members in 2018, Minister in charge of the Tokyo Olympic Games and Tokyo Paralympic Games in 2019, Minister in charge of Special Missions (Gender Equality), Minister in charge of Women's Empowerment, and Chairman of the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Organizing Committee in 2021. 〇Currently appointed as a member of the Faculty of Education and Science Committee, Administrative Oversight Committee 〇Books “In Love with the Torch” and “Olympic Spirit” (Appointed on December 18, 2020)
